Consorzio Vini Colli Berici

Palladio Wines

The wines of the Colli Berici and Vicenza Consortium as a tale of the places where Andrea Palladio's architecture became great.

A history of wine that crosses the vineyard and its fruits with the villas and monuments fundamental to architecture such as the Olympic Theatre and the Palladian Basilica. In common are the concepts of balance, structure and elegance. With this spirit, the Consorzio Tutela vini Colli Berici e Vicenza brings together wineries, producers and wineries in the area..

Until 2011 there were two entities present: the Consorzio Tutela Vini Colli Berici D.O.C. and the Consorzio Tutela Vini Vicenza D.O.C.. Each was autonomous in the promotion of its own denomination. Then the decision to merge into a single consortium recognised by the MiPAAF. An important union to tell and enhance the quality of the wines of a great land. Together to give voice to 50% of Vicenza's producers and winegrowers. A work that focuses on the identity of the wines of the Berici Hills and Vicenza.

DOC Colli Berici

The limestone rock, red clays and basaltic soils of volcanic origin, the altitude that keeps fog and late frosts away, and the low annual rainfall. These are the environmental aspects that make for wines with character and personality. Lands for great red wines.

One example above all: Cabernet Franc Colli Berici was the first to receive the DOC denomination in Italy. A nature that can be found in the glass, as confirmed by the zoning study that Veneto Agricoltura conducted in collaboration with the Consortium for the Protection of Berici Hills DOC Wines, the Province of Vicenza and the Vicenza Chamber of Commerce. The result is the publication of the Manual of Territorial Use, a tool that helps to understand the differences and identities of this territory.

One name above all: Tai rosso, an autochthonous vine that reflects the uniqueness of the various areas dedicated to its production.

Colli Berici D.O.C. wines are of the following types:

  • Cabernet; Cabernet Franc; Cabernet Sauvignon; Carmenere; Merlot; Pinot Nero; Rosso; Tai Rosso
  • White; Chardonnay; Garganega; Manzoni Bianco; Pinot Bianco; Pinot Grigio; Sauvignon; Spumante (Classic and Charmat Method); Tai
